This Week - Edition #0
Thank you for taking a chance on this newsletter and on Product Hustle Stack. While we think providing an update on what’s new on the site will be useful (and we will be doing that in this newsletter) we really want this newsletter to become a shared space where we can share advice on a variety of product management topics, from general leadership questions to getting unstuck to how to create that roadmap.

Q: What is new on the Product Hustle Stack?
Our first priority is content, content, and then content. This week we added 5 new resources that really resonated with us.
Product Metrics: An Illustrated Primer Words by Shreyas, Illustrations by Andrew Yu - We just discovered Andrew Yu and we really like his content
Resources on Templates:
Lenny's Favorite Templates is an impressive collection of templates by Lenny Rachitsky. Templates are a great way to get us unstuck
Product School Product Management Template is another set of templates, this time by the Product School. The nice thing is that there are templates for CODA, MURAL and Google docs
Resources on Interviewing:
The Reverse Interview - How to choose your next company is a great technique (and includes a set of sample questions) to really make interviewing valuable to you
Product's Management's Sacred Seven is a really good book that runs through the seven skill areas of product management and has links to mock interviews at Big Tech which is worth the price of the book itself
Remember that you can find all of these on Product Hustle Stack'
Q: When is it time as a product manager to seek a new challenge within your organization or seek a new organization?
That was the great question posed at Product Mastermind’s weekly clubhouse and one that really resonated with me and the audience judging by their response.
First, make sure you are assessing yourself effectively.
Talk to product manager peers within and outside of your organization
Ask peers to assess your strength and opportunities as a PdM on a regular basis to track progress or lack thereof
Self assess using tools like Spider Shape
Assess the market
Talk to peers at other companies
Interview with or research interview format and questions for good product companies
Determine if there is a large pay or skills gap with peers at other organizations
Assess your interest
Determine if your interest has decreased repeatedly. It’s normal to have ups and downs but not on a sustained basis
Having answers in all of the dimensions above will help guide a good decision
TL:DR
Too Long: Didn’t Read is a section where we’ll post happenings that are noteworthy for Product Managers to understand. We may not feel their impact immediately, but these events will have an impact on our roles and the users we advocate for.
Google I/O 2021, The developer conference organized by Google, wrapped up this week. The conference has been leveraged in the last few years to announce and provide previews of exciting new technologies and products and this year was no different. This video does a great job of recapping the major announcements in a little over 8 minutes. My favorite announcement was project Starline.
Till next week!
Sincerely,
Team Product Hustle Stack 👋
